Had an amazing trip. Guides know the area extremely well and are professional when it comes to safety, route planning, touring. Although there was much ability-diversity in the group, the guides manage to keep everyone happy and challenged. Would recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for fresh powder, interesting terrain, stunning mountains and the most welcoming hospitality of Europe.

Nika at Georgian Freeride Tours goes above and beyond to deliver an exception tour in an incredible region. With his network of local guides and intricate local knowledge, he made sure we were in the right place everyday to score the best fresh lines. His excellent daily briefings kept the energy levels high and made group well informed on the conditions, approaches etc - not to be missed...

Sensational

Powderhounds Ambassador, 10/02/2024

I had planned to visit Mestia & the Svaneti in Georgia a few times over the Powderhounds’ journey, and finally managed it with zero planning after looking at a snow forecast for the region. I sorted flights and Nika from Freeride Tours Georgia sorted everything else within an hour of letting him know I was coming. Such a fantastic way to start any trip, and particularly somewhere a little more difficult to get to

We had an amazing week of deep powder and great guiding. We rode a large variety of terrain. Went up the mountain with a Heli, did some cool descents with the splitboard, and rode the best powder lines we ever experienced. The guides really know what they are doing. Apart from snowboarding we also had delicious Georgian food for breakfast and dinner included in our booking. All in all can highly recommend

Very authentic experience trough Georgians mountains. Guides are really good always with smile and available to support you and your team. Heli drop was fantastic! They know very well the terrain and where to find the best conditions for the snow. Very cool experience also out of the mountains, where we lived with the locals, ate delicious food and enjoyed the village. 5 stars! I will come back for sure!

HELISKIING IN RACHA

New Heliski frontier in Georgia! The 1st Heli Week in Racha run by Locals

Absolute sensation - new heliski destination!

A NEW HELISKI FRONTIER IN GEORGIA! The first heliski week in Racha run by a Georgian operator — created by locals, based in the Caucasus.Georgia’s quietest mountain province — vineyards below, the Greater Caucasus above

     OVERVIEW

Under three hours north of Kutaisi, the road leaves the vineyards of the Rioni valley and climbs into a landscape of wooden villages, mineral springs and empty ridgelines. Racha has been famous in Georgia for centuries — for its wine, its air and its silence — and completely unknown to skiers. It is a region people are protective of: no resorts, no crowds, no development on the high slopes. Which is precisely why the skiing here has waited until now

     ITINERARY

   Day 1. Arrival and briefing
  • Transfer from the airport or city (Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi)
    (Tbilisi - 4:15 hours, Batumi - 4:15 hours, Kutaisi - 2:45 hours).
  • Check-in and free time (unpacking and having a rest).
  • Dinner at the hotel.
  • Welcome meeting and briefing with the guide.
  • Avalanche training (if everybody feels well after the transfer. Otherwise training is done the next morning).

19:00 – 22:00 Chill out in a bar or lounge

   Day 8. Departure
  • Transfer to the city (Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi) or to the airport

     ACCOMODATION

HOTEL AND HELIPAD, SIDE BY SIDE. The helicopter station is a two-minute walk from the hotel door. Breakfast, boots, briefing, take-off — no morning transfer, no road, no waiting. The most valuable hour of a heliski day is the one you don’t spend in a minibus. And you are not cut off. The base sits in Oni, the capital of Racha: hospital and pharmacy, shops and cafés, fuel, bank and mobile coverage — all within a few minutes of the hotel. Wilderness skiing, with a town behind it

Subject to weather and trail conditions, the route may allow us to reach the upper ski-lift area

The combination of altitude, terrain and panoramic mountain scenery makes Tetnuldi one of the most memorable riding areas of the tour

     DAY 4 — LAILA PASS
   Remote Mountain Terrain

The route continues toward Laila Pass, passing through remote mountain villages and less-traveled areas of Svaneti

The area provides outstanding views toward Mount Ushba and the surrounding Caucasus landscape

   Maximum elevation: approximately 2,800 m

This is one of the most scenic riding days of the program

     DAY 6 — USHGULI • SHKHARA
   The High Mountain Valley

The final major riding day takes us toward Ushguli, one of Svaneti's most renowned high-mountain settlements

   Technical difficulty
   Group riding experience
   Rider preferences
   Time available
